- Below 110 pages, black ink is a flat $2.30 on Amazon.com or £1.93 on Amazon.co.uk. At 110 pages and above it becomes a fixed charge plus a per-page rate, so a 300-page black-ink paperback costs $4.60 to print in the US and £3.85 in the UK. Colour is several times more. - $4.60 on Amazon.com or £3.85 on Amazon.co.uk in black ink at a standard trim — a fixed charge plus roughly a penny a page. In standard colour the same book costs $8.65 or £6.85, which is why full-colour paperbacks need a much higher list price to leave any royalty.

- Considerably. At 200 pages, black ink costs $3.40 against $6.10 for standard colour on Amazon.com — and premium colour is higher still.
